Cobantur and Boltas moving closer together

Cobantur Boltas, Turkish-German logistics group consisting of the legally independent companies Cobantur and Boltas, strengthens operations, management and market presence.

The logistics service providers, founded in 1982 in Turkey and 1978 in Germany, are pioneers for individual intermodal transport solutions and bundle their competencies and resources in the logistically demanding sectors of chemicals, automotive, FMCG, fashion and healthcare, among others.

Operations
With the direct train connection between Nuremberg and Trieste, the logistics group is responding early to the nearshoring concepts of the shipping industry. The new block train connects Nuremberg via Trieste with Pendik and Ambarli in Turkey as well as Patras in Greece with regional and supraregional pre- and onward carriage. “The new connection thus expands the range of resilient and sustainable links between economic areas that are moving closer together,” says Iskender Cobanoglu, managing director of the German Boltas GmbH, adding, “The intermodal line is so successful that we are already starting a 2nd round trip.” In addition, the past six months have seen an intensive review of the overall processes. “The analysis has provided us with important data for the further expansion of our network and is the starting signal for a number of internal structural and IT projects,” says Ulas Cobanoglu, Vice President of Turkish

Cobantur. His focus will be on strengthening the already extensive national and interregional transport network in Turkey. In addition, both companies plan to expand their full-service offering and increase the number of their warehouse logistics centers in Turkey, Italy, France and Germany.

Management
Ulas Cobanoglu and Iskender Cobanoglu are both members of the newly created Board of Directors at Cobantur Boltas. The board, which is composed of managers from both companies, will optimize the flow of joint operational activities and determine the future strategic business direction of the group.

Marketing and sales
With optimized customer relationship management, logistics decision-makers and dispatchers from industry, production and trade will be offered more service and transparency. The new logo and the new company slogan “Twice as good” are visible signs of the intensified cooperation. The market presence of all national companies, Turkey, Germany, France, Italy and Romania, is gradually being unified by a new website.

“Our umbrella brand strategy, the expansion of activities and the new management structure, all these are important success factors for the sustainable growth and customer-oriented further development of the Group,” Ulas Cobanoglu and Iskender Cobanoglu are certain.

Cobantur Boltas and DFDS jointly expand intermodal transport route

As one of the leading companies in the maritime and logistics industry in Europe, DFDS continues to expand its intermodal transports and, in cooperation with Cobantur Boltas, offers additional weekly round trips on the direct rail connection Nuremberg-Trieste, which went into operation last fall.

On April 11, 2021, DFDS launched routes connected to its railway connections, strengthening its sustainable supply chain services. The first solution of the Intermodal competence center launched in partnership with primeRail Gmbh, the new line gets new routes. The new services allow trailers and truck beds loaded in Turkey to their recipients in Europe in an environmentally friendly and fast way in a period marked by the pandemic which has made logistics all the more crucial.

“The increased frequency of this particular line is again proofing the success of the long standing cooperation between Cobantur Boltas and DFDS as well as the growing importance of sustainable logistics solutions.” says Iskender Cobanoglu, member of the Board of Directors at Cobantur Boltas and Managing Director of the German Boltas GmbH.

“DFDS Mediterranean Business Unit continues to enhance its already powerful intermodal infrastructure further,” said Lars Hoffmann, the Head of DFDS Mediterranean Business Unit, about the new routes on the Nuremberg-Trieste connection line. “Our new line is the first solution of our intermodal competence center in partnership with primeRail Gmbh. We are very happy to ramp up our range of services with new routes.”

Timetable of the expanded connection: every Thursday and Sunday there is a service from Trieste to Nuremberg. Vice versa, from Nuremberg to Trieste, departures are on Tuesday and Friday.
